The Scholarships

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • Frank Carmona Scholarship: Undergraduate Latino students. First awarded in 1987–1988 academic year.
  • Undergraduate Black and Hispanic Scholarship: African American and Latino students. First awarded in 1989–1990 academic year.
  • Undergraduate Black and Hispanic in Public Communications Scholarship: African American and Latino students enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. First awarded in 1989–1990 academic year.
  • Wayne K. Brown Scholarship: Undergraduate African American and Latino students enrolled in the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. First awarded in 1990–1991 academic year.
  • Leon O. Woods Scholarship: Undergraduate African American students enrolled in The College of Arts and Sciences. First awarded in 1990–1991 academic year.
  • David Bing Scholarship: Undergraduate African American and Latino students. First awarded in 1992–1993 academic year.
  • Corning Scholarship: Undergraduate African American students majoring in engineering subjects in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. First awarded in 1992–1993 academic year.
  • Undergraduate Black and Hispanic in Engineering Scholarship: Engineering majors enrolled in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. First awarded in 1993–1994 academic year.
  • Undergraduate Black and Hispanic in Liberal Arts (Arts and Sciences) Scholarship: Students enrolled in The College of Arts and Sciences. First awarded in 1993–1994 academic year.
  • DeLuca Charitable Trust Endowed Scholarship: African American and Latino students undergraduate scholarship. First awarded in 1997–1998 academic year.
  • Ruby Helen Henry and Marion A. Goodwin Scholarship: African American undergraduate students. First awarded in 1997–1998 academic year.
  • Angela Y. Robinson Scholarship: African American and Latino juniors or seniors enrolled in the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications who are majoring in broadcast journalism. First awarded in 1998–1999 academic year.
  • Homer L. Harrison Scholarship: African American and Latino undergraduates enrolled in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. First awarded in 2002–2003 academic year.
  • Graduate Black and Hispanic Scholarship: African American and Latino students. First awarded in 2003–2004 academic year.
  • Lois and Martin J. Whitman Undergraduate Scholarship: African American and Latino students. First awarded in 2006–2007 academic year.
  • Lee Poindexter Anthon Scholarship: African American and Latino freshman students who are graduates of the Leadership and Public Service High School. First awarded in 2008–2009 academic year.
  • Syracuse 8 Scholarship Fund: African American or Latino first-year students who exhibited leadership skills and participated in community service activities during high school. First awarded in 2011–2012 academic year.
  • Delta Sigma Theta Endowed Scholarship: Provides scholarship financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled full time at Syracuse University, with preference to African American or Latino students. First awarded in 2014–2015 academic year.
  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Iota Upsilon Chapter Alumnae Endowed Scholarship Fund: Provides financial assistance to undergraduate students, with first preference to an eligible undergraduate Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. student. First awarded in 2016-2017 academic year.
  • Mimi Delyne Flack Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Social Work Students: Provides scholarship and financial assistance to a graduate student in the School of Social Work, with preference to African American and/or Latino students. First awarded in 2016-2017 academic year.
  • Alpha Phi Alpha Delta Zeta Endowed Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate African American or Latino students who possess a minimum 2.5 GPA. First awarded in 2018-2019 academic year.
  • Class of ’74 Endowed Scholarship: Provide scholarship to undergrad students, with preference to African American or Latino students. First awarded in 2018-2019 academic year.
  • Light Family Newhouse Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with preference to Black and/or Latino students. First awarded in 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Light Family Carolyne Barry Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, with preference to Black and/or Latino students. First awarded in 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Light Family Bandier Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled in the Martin Bandier Program for the Music Business Entertainment Industries, with preference to Black and/or Latino students. First awarded in 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Vincent H. Cohen, Sr. Memorial Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate students with preference given to African American students with a minimum GPA of 3.0,  or its future equivalent. First awarded in 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Delta Beta Executive Alumni Foundation Endowed Fund: Provide scholarship to undergrad students, with preference to African American or Latino students. First awarded in 2020-2021 academic year.

NON-ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • Kenneth O. Miles: First-year African American, Latino or Native American undergraduate student. First awarded: 2006-2007academic year.
  • Joyce DuVall Robb Scholarship: African American or Latino students enrolled in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management or School of Education. First awarded in 2008–2009 academic year.
  • Philip J. Davis Undergraduate in Public Communication Scholarship: African American students enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. First awarded in 2009–2010 academic year.
  • Latino and African American Graduate Supported Scholarship: Students enrolled in schools and colleges other than the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. First awarded in 2009–2010 academic year.
  • Helena Mitchell Scholarship : Provides financial assistance to sophomore students in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with preference to African American or Latino students. First awarded in 2011–2012 academic year.
  • Maxmillian Osiris Radford Finley Memorial Scholarship Fund: African American or Hispanic junior or senior students majoring in environmental engineering, or for any engineering major who is from Atlanta, Georgia, or the southeastern United States. First awarded in 2011–2012 academic year.
  • Phi Iota Alpha Scholarship: Latino freshmen students who attended Summer Start and who demonstrate a willingness to be active in the Syracuse community. First awarded in 2014–2015 academic year.
  • Wegman’s Food Markets Scholarship: African American or Latino undergraduate students. First awarded 2014–2015 academic year.
  • Keith Brown and Victor Holman Scholarship: Scholarship and financial assistance to graduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or above, with preference to African American and Latino students. First awarded in 2015–2016 academic year.
  • Major Grant Williams Memorial Scholarship: Provide scholarship and financial assistance to undergraduate students with preference given to African American or Latino students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. First awarded in 2019-2020 academic year.
