Save the Date for a Pre-CBT Reception Near You!

After an extra year of anticipation, alumni and friends are invited back to campus September 9-12 for Coming Back Together (CBT) 2021, Syracuse University’s eagerly awaited triennial reunion for Black and Latino/a alumni. Following a particularly challenging year in 2020, we know alumni are eager for the opportunity to come back together and reconnect in person.

CBT 2021 will be a four-day weekend (Thursday-Sunday), so plan to arrive on Wednesday night or Thursday morning to participate in the CBT Orange Job Fair, attend the CBT Lecture and CBT Celebrity Classic Basketball Game and to kick off the first of several legendary CBT after parties.

The theme of CBT 2021 is “Celebrating 151 years of Black and Latino/a Excellence at Syracuse University.” In addition to established CBT activities such as networking and professional development workshops, an alumni art exhibit, CBT Fundraising Gala—this year known as the “Shades of Orange Sneaker Ball”—and CBT Sunday Worship Service, CBT 2021 will introduce exciting new programming. Special events will include a panel on Sport and Social Justice, Yesterday and Today, a celebration of the 51st Anniversary of the Syracuse 8 and a CBT Tailgate on the Quad to showcase Black and Latino/a cultural traditions on campus. We anticipate welcoming celebrity guests during the weekend, details to be announced.

Alumni will also be able to experience Syracuse University’s new health and wellness facility, the Barnes Center at The Arch, the newly renovated Schine Student Center and the opening of 119 Euclid. This inclusive space was designed for those wanting to celebrate and explore the uniqueness of Black culture and the Black student experience at Syracuse University.

Registration will open in late June. To provide a safe atmosphere for our students, staff, faculty and guests, we will follow New York state and Syracuse University COVID protocols. All faculty, staff, and students at Syracuse University will receive the COVID-19 vaccine prior to the fall semester. Overnight visitors to campus (i.e., alumni and guests) must provide proof of vaccination at event check-in.
